I am Dimitar Banchev, a software developer passionate about technology 👨‍💻, calisthenics 🤸, tinkering and much more... I like to constantly try new technologies and learn new things.

Background

My fascination with computers started at a young age, when I spent countless hours playing games.
As I grew older, my curiosity had grown beyond just playing, I wanted to understand how everything worked behind the scenes.
I started tinkering with hardware, assembling computers, exploring different kinds of software, and trying to create with my limited knowledge.
This natural curiosity set me on a path toward a deeper understanding of technology. 🤓

Eager to turn my passion into a career 💰, I made the decision to leave my hometown and enroll in a vocational high school focused on system programming.
It was there that I began to uncover the potential of computers.
The experiences and knowledge gained there, fueled even further my motivation to learn more and refine my skills as a future developer.

Wanting to try more new things, I made the choice to continue my education abroad, pursuing a degree in computer science.
This choice created many new opportunities for me to dive into cutting-edge technologies 🚀, and broaden my understanding of software development.
I was also fortunate to gain hands-on experience as a working student at a software company, where I applied my academic knowledge to real-world projects.
The opportunity to work professionally while still studying has been invaluable in shaping my journey as a developer and tech enthusiast.

Skills

I've tried many different technologies and have worked in many different fields. But mainly I like Golang. I have experience with other languages too, such as Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, bla bla bla... In addition, I have experience with building full-stack, and CLI applications.
Currently, I am interested in web development, and trying as many things as possible.

PS: Recently I've also learned more about web dev. Specifically desigining web pages, JavaScript, React, React Router.

Highlights

While being a working student I built a full-stack store application using spring boot.
Both the frontend and backend were using mTLS, which I didn't even know what it was before making it work. (lol)
It's purpose was to be used for testing by a Static application security testing(SAST) software.

Also I had the chance to contribute to a major FOSS security product.
Again used for SAST scanning, called Gosec.

Goals

I am currently working on enhancing my skills in:

Programming: This is the reason this website exists. Because I think, it is a small step towards getting better at programming.
Personal/Social: Currently reading a book about the human behaviour, and have planned to read more books in general.
Calisthenics: The goal as of today (06.10.2024) is to learn plance and to do more repetitions on handstand pushups.

I hope to achieve all things mentioned above, and will also try to document all of my progress here.
